I have decided to blog my Korean experience, and what better time to begin than 24 days before my departure date?
I start to get hot and my armpits get itchy and my heart flutters then pounds when I think about it. It's so close. I'm going to barely have time to turn around and then wham! be plowed into a thick cloud of unfamiliarity. For an entire year, even. No going back now. Not that I'd want to.
How do you pack for a year?
Will I fit in with a culture that is so different from the one I'm used to?
How do you leave your significant other of 3 years+ for that long?
These questions, and many more, will soon linger into answers. Care to join me on my journey?

You're pondering missing only your significant other of three+ years??? What about your family you've had for twenty-seven, er-- twenty-eight years!!! I see where I rate! ;) Have a fantastic voyage and I will be anxiously awaiting each blog. Love you!
I will miss my family, too!! But I've lived away from you guys for a pretty good portion of my life and already had to deal with that emotional turmoil... :) I've never had to live away from Rodney for a whole year, before!
How do you pack for a year?....Ask a Mormon...they are allowed to take one suitcase for 18 months.
Will I fit in with a culture that is so different from the one I'm used to?....No, but that is ok. But embrace it and immerse yourself.
How do you leave your significant other of 3 years+ for that long?....You communicate a lot and trust each other.
I will definitely journey with you.
Going into a foreign country alone is like going from 4th grade to K in a matter of weeks. You did ok then, and you will do ok now. What a wonderful adventure it will be. This is probably once in a lifetime experience and one year away from Rodney will be hard, but just think of the meeting you will have together in a year. Like Sara said, communicate and trust are the key ingredients.
As far as language, you will have no choice but to learn it. You will come home bi-lingual. Packing? Buy new clothes once yu get there.

Try Rosetta language thingys. They say the work. Good luck.
I have completed a set of Pimsleur language cds, so I feel like I have a decent start in learning the language. Haven't used Rosetta - will check it out. Thanks for your input, guys. :)
I think we are gals, not guys.
